Little Tunas Watersports Club
Come join our awesome (5 – 8 years) Little Tunas Watersports Club. These extra special surf lessons help build confidence, water skills, and more importantly are loads of fun! A great introduction to life at the beach.
What is the Little Tunas Watersports Club?
Our Little Tunas Watersports club emphasis is on safety, fun, and gradual confidence building. We do this in a friendly environment with fully qualified Surfing England & SLSGB instructors. All our coaches are first aid trained and DBS checked.
The lessons are designed with child participation in mind. They provide excellent opportunity to learn about beach safety and sea awareness. Surfing takes place in shallow water, no deeper than the child’s waist. Our instructor to student ratio is never more than 6-1. This gives each Little Tuna an equal opportunity to hone their future skillsets.
If you would like your child to gain confidence in the sea, around others, and learn something new, then the Little Tunas is perfect!
Do you provide equipment?
We provide everything required to participate in the class. Bodyboards or Surfboards (depending on weather conditions), wetsuits, safety equipment, lockers, toilets, and full changing facilities – located at the shop.
We know how hard recent times have been on all families so we have purposely made each session as affordable as possible.
We do ask Parents / Guardians to be situated within close proximity of the group on the first occasion.
Please remember that safety is always our number one priority and these sessions may be cancelled at short notice if it is too dangerous to go out onto the water.

We recommend you bring water, a change of clothes, and swim shorts.
We accept children aged 5 – 8 years. For insurance purposes, we cannot accommodate children under 10 years of age without a parent/carer staying with them.
Children aged over 14 years of age may need to participate in our adult group lessons, which are more suitable for their learning and ability level.
We have a minimum size wetsuit of JXXS so if your child is a particularly small 5-year-old please tell a member of staff when booking.
We require our students to have a basic swimming ability. If your child is a non-swimmer or is not confident in the water, then please let the staff know.
Lifejackets are not necessary for any our water based activities. Children are provided with a wetsuit which will keep them buoyant. All our Little Tunas lessons are conducted in water which is less than waist deep. Our coaches are qualified beach lifeguards and SLSGB approved.
Children must be accompanied to and from the session.
We do ask that all parents/carers are available at the beginning to help kids into their wetsuits and help them carry their equipment to and from the beach.
You must be available at the end of the session to help your child change out of their wetsuit. Due to child protection laws, staff are unable to help your child with this alone.
