Great value Wetsuit hire on Scarborough’s truly stunning North Bay. Dexters Surf Shop offers the best quality equipment saving you the expense of having to buy your own kit! Our aim is to share our love of the ocean with you in a way that is convenient and affordable.
Why Surfing? Here are just a couple of reasons!
- You can’t explain the feeling you get when you ride a wave until you actually experience it, so get out there and give it a go and feel the ‘stoke’.
- Surfing increases your strength, balance and fitness, not only that but simply spending time in the ocean positively impacts your health.
- Along with becoming fit you will also become confident. Learning to surf, you will need courage to take on different conditions and grow your confidence!
- Make new friends and become apart of the surfing community. Enjoy time together in the water catching some waves, having a laugh and most importantly having fun.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU PROVIDE?
Wetsuits – All of our hire suits are made by Ion. They are a minimum of 5/4mm thick and will keep you warm for whatever the North Sea throws at you! We have sizes which range from Jr Age 4 to Adult 5XL.
Boots – Our boots are 5mm zipped. They are super warm and have highly durable soles with extra grip. We have sizes which range from JXXS Kids – 13 Adult.
Gloves – The Sola 5 Finger 5mm wetsuit gloves we offer are wind resistant. Their sealed seams and pre-formed cuffs are designed to limit water ingress.
Hoods – We provide Vissla North Seas 3mm cold water hoods. These detachable, thermal lined hoods will feel snug and lighter.
What should I bring?
We do ask that you bring along a spare change of clothing and a towel. Our surf shop is positioned on the beachfront. We have newly refurbished changing rooms, toilets, and free lockers to keep your belongings safe while you’re in the water.

FAQ's
Once you have arrived at the surf shop, we will show you where the kit is and assist you with finding the correct size equipment. We will offer any safety advice that is required for the weather and sea conditions on the day. Then you will be shown to our private changing rooms where you can get ready for your session!
Once you are ready, head back downstairs and our team will let you know where is best for you to position yourselves in the bay according to your skill level, then off you go!
